While Quark prays to the Grand Exchequer to allow him prosperous business and to see his dream of being with Ezri come to fruition, he receives a visit from a very different Ezri. Unfortunately for Quark, this isn't Ezri Dax, and she isn't here on a social call. The Grand Nagus, who has been missing for some time, greets Quark from a message tube, and goes on to say that he tried to open negotiations for trade with the Mirror Universe's Alliance. However, the venture is in jeopardy unless Quark is able to smuggle a cloaking device into the Mirror Universe. Should he fail, the Nagus will be meeting the Grand Exchequer in person.

Tuvok and Paris are sucked into a strange gravity well in which all ship that have entered have never left. On the planet they crash on, they meet a mysterious woman, who seems to be smitten with Tuvok.
As Voyager attempts to locate the shuttle, they find another race is intent on destroying this strange gravity well area of space, giving Voyager a limited time to find and rescue their crewmates.

It's Dharma's birthday, but the surprise she gets isn't what Greg was planning. First his parents take them on a mock foxhunt, and the uncontrollably wild stallion at the stables becomes meek as a lamb as she as he meets Dharma (who nicknames him "Steve"). Groom Joaquin swears it's because the horse has fallen madly in love with Dharma - and sure enough Steve starts showing up unexpectedly (and inexplicably) at the apartment. Meanwhile, Greg's old flame Barbara (guest Coyle reprises her role from episode five) is assigned to work with him on a case with an overnight deadline, but has to go home to deal with a plumbing emergency, so Greg accompanies her, and over several hours of hard work they both fall asleep. When Dharma gets back from returning Steve to the stables, it's 3:00 am and Greg is missing, so she calls Pete, who assumes the worst and swears that Greg is passed out drunk on his floor. Matt flies to New York to visit Lauren, who has spent the past three years in a mental institution. She returns to Los Angeles with Matt, but he is reluctant to introduce her to Kelly. David and Gina see the couple kissing on the street. Kelly angrily breaks up with Matt, then decides that she will fight for him. Matt informs Kelly that Lauren is his wife. Dylan performs community service on a road crew. He objects to the tyrannical foreman's treatment of one of the other workers, an upstanding family man. Dylan gets into a fight with the foreman; he must smooth things over to spare his friend from an unfair punishment. Dylan angers Gina by confiding in his sponsor while shutting Gina out. David meets a woman who may be his perfect match, but she seems to have stood him up. Steve and Donna engage in a war of practical jokes with Noah after they catch him cheating at strip poker.
